KATHMANDU, May 29: Laxman Humagain has been reappointed as chairman of the Advertisement Board. Six candidates had applied for the position.
A cabinet meeting on Monday approved Humagain’s appointment, according to government spokesperson and Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung. Alongside Humagai, Kavita Sharma, Sujan Raja Shrestha, Ashok Kumar Ghimire, Padam Raj Joshi and Anant Kant Mainali had also submitted applications.

Humagain, a former chairman of the Board, was first appointed in March 2021, with his term having concluded in March 2025.
Under Section 14(4) of the Advertisement Regulation Act, 2019, a recommendation committee is formed to propose candidates for the chairman’s post to the government. The committee, chaired by the ministry secretary, includes an expert member appointed by the ministry and a joint secretary as member-secretary. It selects suitable candidates through an open competition, based on qualifications set out in the Act.
Section 18 of the Act states that the chairman serves as the Board’s executive chief, with a term of four years.
