Landslides block various roads in Makwanpur

KATHMANDU, August 21: Roads in various places have been blocked in Makwanpur due to landslides caused by last night's rain. District Police Office, Makwanpur, has said that the Sisneri road section and Kanti lokpath road section were blocked due to landslides.



Area Police Office, Bhimphedi, said that the road section was blocked due to a landslide in Bhaltar in Indra Sarovar Rural Municipality-3 under the Sisneri road section of the district.

According to the police, due to landslides, vehicles operating on the short route to Kathmandu via Hetauda-Bhimphedi have been using alternative roads since night, Police Inspector Pratima Karki said.


Similarly, the Kanti Highway road section has also been blocked due to landslides. According to the police, traffic was blocked due to landslides at various places on the road section connecting Hetauda to Kathmandu via Lalitpur.


Similarly, a landslide has also occurred in the Baguwa River of Makwanpur Gadhi Rural Municipality. Efforts are being made to open the said road. Traffic remains blocked due to landslides triggered by rains at various places.


According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tek Bahadur Karki, vehicles are operating on the Tribhuvan Highway, East-West Highway and Kulekhani-Fakhel road section of the district.
