Koshi Provincial Assembly passes bill on contribution-based pension fund

BIRATNAGAR, Aug 11: Koshi Provincial Assembly on Sunday passed the ‘Bill designed to make arrangements for the establishment and operation of the Contributory Pension Fund’.



Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning of the Koshi Provincial Government Ram Bahadur Magar had submitted a proposal seeking passage of the bill. The bill was passed unanimously after Speaker Ambar Bahadur Bista presented it for a decision. Likewise, the ‘Bill designed to make arrangements regarding the official language of Koshi Province’ was tabled in the House in today’s meeting.

Presenting the bill, Minister for Social Development Panchkarna Rai said that although the Language Commission had recommended 14 languages in this province, Limbu and Maithili languages would now be used as the official languages. This has however added to the financial burden of the government.


Meanwhile, during the special hour of the meeting, Janata Samajwadi Party Koshi Provincial Assembly parliamentary party leader Nirmala Limbu delivered her speech in Limbu language. The next meeting of the Provincial Assembly is being held on Monday.
