KATHMANDU, April 16: The World Economic Forum (WEF), based in Geneva, Switzerland, has selected Kathmandu Metropolitan City Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol for the Forum of Global Young Leaders 2025.
Out of 11 representatives chosen from South Asia, Dangol is the only one from Nepal. She previously served as a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Shapers Kathmandu Hub. Representing the government sector, Deputy Mayor Dangol joins a group of 116 young leaders under the age of 40 selected from 50 countries around the world.

The WEF introduced Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol on its website, stating, "She is a politician who inspires young people and bridges cultural identity with modernity."
Following her selection, Deputy Mayor Dangol said in a brief statement, "Representing on a global platform brings a greater sense of responsibility. I will work with distinguished individuals who have held prominent political positions to encourage young people to take on leadership roles."
The WEF's Young Leaders group includes 10 individuals from the education sector, 8 from arts, culture, and sports, 49 from the business sector, 11 from civil society, 5 from the media, 19 from the government, and 13 from social entrepreneurship. By uniting leaders from government, business, civil society, education, media, and the arts, the WEF aims to foster sustainable and positive change within their respective sectors and the wider community.
Since its inception in 2004, the WEF's Young Global Leaders program has brought together more than 1,400 members from over 120 countries.
