"With improved road access, this checkpoint will remain operational throughout the year," he said, adding that the border crossing would play a pivotal role in strengthening Nepal’s trilateral relations with both China and India.
He also highlighted the ongoing presence of major hydropower projects with Indian investment in Sankhuwasabha, emphasising the need to maintain cordial and balanced relations with both neighbouring countries.
On the newly inaugurated Project Office, the Minister expressed confidence that it would help harness local water resources to enhance agricultural productivity. The project aims to address technical, managerial, and social aspects of irrigation development across four districts, including Sankhuwasabha.
“Despite having abundant natural resources, Sankhuwasabha has lagged behind in development,” Minister Khadka noted. He said the budget for the fiscal year 2025/26 was allocated in response to public aspirations, aiming to promote inclusive growth.
He further claimed that his ministry had achieved 80 percent of its energy sector targets in the previous fiscal year, and would now focus on delivering both development and accountability.
