Kathmandu Mayor finally resumes office

Dangol and other elected representatives tried to push through the security cordon to allow the Chief Executive Officer at the Metropolitan City, Saroj Guragain into his office. Guragain, suspended by the Mayor, was reinstated by a court decision.

KATHMANDU, April 10: Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah resumed his office on Thursday after several days of absence, during which the majority of elected representatives led by Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol were face-to-face with the municipal security personnel led by Superintendent Raju Pandey.



Dangol and other elected representatives tried to push through the security cordon to allow the Chief Executive Officer at the Metropolitan City, Saroj Guragain into his office. Guragain, suspended by the Mayor, was reinstated by a court decision.

SP Pandey has barred Guragain from entering the metropolis under verbal instruction from Mayor Shah, who was suddenly noticed with his friends and family at the Bhimsenthan in Dolakha.


Shah had not reported to work since last Tuesday.
