KATHMANDU, July 22: In recent years, the number of pilgrims traveling to Kailash Mansarovar from Nepal and via Nepal has been increasing. However, there was no single book that answered common questions such as how to undertake the journey, which route is easier or more enjoyable. These questions now find vivid and accessible answers in the new book ‘Kailash Kora’.

Travel writer Rajendra Man Dangol has authored ‘Kailash Kora’, recently published by Nepalaya Publication.

“I have captured the origin sites of four major rivers—Brahmaputra, Sutlej, Indus, and Karnali—in words and images in Kailash Kora,” said author Dangol. “With the aim of documenting in detail the sacred site of Kailash Mansarovar—revered by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and followers of Bon—I undertook a two-week journey last year. The result is this book.”

Jyoti Adhikari, who has been organizing Kailash-Mansarovar pilgrimages from Nepal in a planned manner since 1992, remarked, “Renowned figures from literature and music like Narayan Wagle and Amrit Gurung visited Kailash long ago. Just as their experiences brought Kailash to life, Kailash Kora highlights the significance of the pilgrimage.” According to Adhikari, Dangol’s book goes beyond mere word collection, reflecting the depths of heart, soul, and emotion.

Dangol is an established name in travel literature. He has previously published three travel books. His essay ‘Kanchanjungalai Niyalda’ is included in the Grade 9 government curriculum. He has also been shortlisted for the Padmashree Literary Award.

The book contains 11 chapters along with maps of various routes to Kailash. Priced at Rs. 395, the 158-page book is available globally via Amazon and in both print and eBook formats through Thuprai.com.
