KATHMANDU, Aug 22: The Supreme Court (SC) has scheduled a preliminary hearing for Thursday on a writ petition filed by 21 police officers demanding the removal of the 30-year service period in Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force (APF).
Along with 21 police officers, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jivan Kumar Shrestha filed a writ petition at the SC on Wednesday. The case has been scheduled for a hearing by a single bench of Justice Hari Prasad Phuyal.
SC to hear writ petition against Police Staff College today
In the petition filed against the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Police Headquarters, and the Police Library, a demand has been made to remove the 30-year service period limit in the police organizations.
Due to the provisions related to a 30-year service period, 90 officers of Nepal Police will undergo compulsory retirement from this August 31.
