KATHMANDU, April 18: The Joint People's Movement Mobilization Committee (JPMC), which advocates for the reinstatement of the monarchy, has accused the government of preventing its leader Dhawal Shamsher Rana, currently in police custody, from seeking medical treatment.
In a statement issued on Friday, JPMC spokesperson Swagat Nepal alleged that the government is conspiring to prevent Rana from traveling to Mumbai for a scheduled follow-up medical checkup.

“We strongly object to the government's attempt to stop him from traveling to Mumbai, India, for his follow-up treatment, which has already been scheduled by his doctors. We firmly demand that the government allow him to receive medical care there,” the statement said.
The committee has emphasized that Rana’s condition is serious and urged both the national and international human rights communities to advocate for his treatment at his previous hospital and by his regular doctors.
Rana and several others were arrested by the police on charges of involvement in the Tinkune incident on March 28. They remain in custody while an investigation on the incident is yet to be concluded.
