International-standard stadium to be built in Damak

The government has announced plans to construct an international-standard stadium in Damak, Jhapa, capable of hosting all types of sporting events.

KATHMANDU, May 29: The government has announced plans to construct an international-standard stadium in Damak, Jhapa, capable of hosting all types of sporting events.



Unveiling the budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26 at the joint session of federal parliament on Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel said the initiative aims to diversify sports disciplines and promote sports tourism. High-altitude sports stadiums will also be constructed in Solukhumbu, Mustang and Jumla.

The government has allocated Rs 420 million for the construction of the Mulpani Cricket Stadium in Kathmandu, the Girija Prasad Koirala Stadium in Morang, the Fapla Cricket Ground in Kailali, and the Siddhartha Cricket Stadium in Rupandehi. An additional Rs 400 million has been set aside for upgrading the international cricket stadium in Kirtipur.


The Ministry of Youth and Sports has been allocated a total budget of Rs 6.08 billion for FY 2025/26.
