KATHMANDU, Sep 13: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended congratulations to Nepal’s interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki during a public speech in Manipur.
A day earlier, shortly after Karki’s appointment on Friday, Modi had conveyed his greetings in three languages. On Saturday, he reiterated his congratulations in his Manipur address.

“On behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, I extend heartfelt congratulations to Mrs. Sushila Ji on assuming office as the interim prime minister,” Modi said in his speech, expressing confidence that she would lead Nepal toward peace, stability, and prosperity.
Modi also described Karki’s appointment as Nepal’s first woman prime minister as a remarkable example of women’s empowerment. “I appreciate every citizen of Nepal for upholding democratic values above all, even amid an atmosphere of instability,” he added.
