Indian govt agrees to supply additional 600 MW electricity to Nepal

Currently, Nepal is importing electricity from India for 15 hours a day. Before the approval to import the additional 600 MW, electricity was being imported for only 12 hours daily. Now, the import duration has increased to 15 hours per day.

KATHMANDU, May 1: The Indian government has granted permission to supply an additional 600 megawatts of electricity to Nepal through the Muzaffarpur-Dhalkebar transmission line.



Previously, India had been supplying electricity to Nepal from the Muzaffarpur-Dhalkebar line only from 6 am to 5 pm.

After receiving approval to import an additional 600 MW of electricity from the Indian Energy Exchange, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has stated that power cuts in the industrial sector will now be reduced.
