KATHMANDU, Sept 17: As of Bhadra (mid-August to mid-September) in the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26, revenue collection has reached Rs 158.71 billion. The target was set at Rs 218.46 billion for this one month, but the goal was not achieved.

According to the Ministry of Finance, only 72.65 percent of the target revenue was collected in Bhadra. The Ministry stated that by the end of Bhadra, revenue fell short by Rs 59.75 billion compared to the target.

For Bhadra alone, revenue was estimated to be Rs 94.08 billion, but only Rs 73.61 billion was collected.

In the previous FY 2024/25, the revenue collection target by Bhadra was Rs 213.36 billion, but only Rs 169.52 billion was collected.

Revenue statements for the month of Saun must be submitted by business institutions by Bhadra 25. However, due to the ‘Gen-Z’ protests on Bhadra 23 and 24 (September 8 and 9), many businesses were unable to submit their revenue.

The Ministry of Finance has extended the deadline by one month. Those submitting Shrawan (mid-July to mid-August) revenue statements by Ashoj 25 (October 11) will not face any additional fees or penalties.

Even with this extension, revenue collection is still estimated to be low. The target revenue for the current fiscal year is set at Rs 1,419.30 billion.
