KATHMANDU, July 23: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Wednesday reaffirmed his firm commitment to the national pledge of fighting corruption, stating, “I neither engage in corruption nor allow it to happen.”

Responding to lawmakers' queries in the House of Representatives, PM Oli emphasized that action against corruption would not be taken based on rumors, social media posts, or hearsay. Instead, legal action would be pursued based strictly on facts and evidence, regardless of the individual involved.

"The government must adopt a policy of zero tolerance toward corruption," PM Oli said, "Even the slightest suspicion should prompt an uncompromising response."

He expressed dissatisfaction over what he described as unwarranted allegations leveled against him by certain individuals.

"It has become a fashion for some people to sling mud at the prime minister. They make noise over trivial issues—like claiming brass was offered at Pashupatinath temple," he remarked. "I don’t give such things much attention or take offense—they're just habits."

Oli stressed that no one in public office at any level of government is above the law. He assured that any instance of financial misconduct or irregularities is being, and will continue to be, addressed in accordance with the law.

Highlighting good governance as a priority, the prime minister said the two pillars of his administration’s commitment are curbing corruption and ensuring efficient public service delivery.

“Good governance means delivering services to the people correctly, timely, and easily,” he said, “My government is and will remain seriously focused on these two areas.”
