JUMLA, July 6: “I am growing frail and can die anytime,” Dr. Govinda KC said to a delegate of parliamentarians who reached Jumla to meet the medical crusader and assess his health conditions.

KC has been staging his 15th fast-unto-death hunger strike demanding the implementation of the original Medical Ordinance Bill without changes.

The parliamentarians are returning after assessing KC’s health conditions, local government and the covered hall. Organizing a press meet before their departure to Kathmandu, Prakash Snehi Rasmai, House of Representatives from Nepali Congress said that KC’s health was increasingly hindering his ability to fight for the citizens.

During the press meet, Rasmai quoted KC’s words, “I am growing frail and I can die anytime.”

KC has been demanding that the government implement the Medical Education Ordinance Bill as it is. Rasmai also dismissed rumors that KC had staged the strike in Jumla on behalf of Nepali Congress. “Nepali Congress does not have any involvement in his strike,” he clarified. “However, we are with Dr. KC because reinstating the original bill will benefit the nation.”

He also condemned the police’s interventions in course of the strike. Three parliamentarians, Rajmati Shahi, Dinbandhu Shrestha and Rasmai had arrived in Jumla to meet KC.
