HoR Speaker and National Assembly Chair call for upholding constitutionalism

KATHMANDU, Sep 12: Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire and National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal have emphasised that the country must advance in line with the constitution.



In a joint statement issued on Friday, they said President Ram Chandra Paudel is taking the initiative to find a solution by upholding constitutional provisions that place sovereignty in the hands of the people while safeguarding civil liberties, territorial integrity, national unity, and independence.

“We are confident that we must not stray from the rule of law and constitutionalism,” they said, stressing that the ongoing process to form a citizen-led government should address the protesters’ demands while ensuring that democracy grows stronger and more resilient.
