HoR meeting scheduled to pass Appropriation Bill today

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel is presenting a proposal, considering the passage of the Appropriation Bill in the HoR meeting to begin at 11:00 am.

KATHMANDU, June 24: Amid ongoing protests from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), demanding Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak's resignation and the formation of a probe committee over the Visit Visa case, the House of Representatives (HoR) is scheduled to pass the Appropriation Bill, 2082, today (Tuesday).


Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel is presenting a proposal, considering the passage of the Appropriation Bill in the HoR meeting to begin at 11:00 am.

The federal parliament secretariat informed them that the Finance Bill, 2082, and the Debt Recovery Bill, 2082, would also be presented in the meeting.


Before this, the related ministers are scheduled to furnish responses to the issues raised on budget allocations under the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security; the Home Ministry; the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology; the Finance Ministry; the Ministry of Urban Development; the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers; the National Planning Commission; the President's Office; and the Vice President's Office, among others.


Similarly, the lawmakers in line to present proposals for budget cuts are Amaresh Kumar Singh, Prabhu Saha, Durga Rai, Prem Suwal, Aman Lal Modi, Janardan Sharma, Bimala Subedi, Rekha Sharma, Chitra Bahadur KC, Shakti Bahadur KC, Hitraj Pande, Ram Kumar Rai, Devendra Paudel, Madhav Sapkota, Ranendra Barali, Gyanu Basnet, Urmila Majhi, Ammar Bahadur Thapa, Chhiring Lhamu Lama, Narayani Sharma, Ganga Karki, and Lekhnath Dahal.


Earlier on May 29, the government had tabled the Appropriation Bill for the fiscal year 2025/2026.


The ruling CPN-UML and Nepali Congress issued a whip directing all their parliamentary members to be present and vote in favor of the Appropriation Bill for the Fiscal Year(FY) 2025/26.
