Heavy rain likely across Nepal as monsoon trough holds steady

The skies are expected to remain generally cloudy across the country this afternoon.

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has reported that the monsoon trough remains near its average position, with moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal continuing to affect Nepal.

The skies are expected to remain generally cloudy across the country this afternoon. Moderate rainfall is likely in some areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in the hilly regions and a few other parts of the country. The MFD has warned of heavy rain at one or two locations in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.


By nightfall, conditions will remain mostly cloudy nationwide. Moderate rain is likely at some places in Koshi, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, the hilly regions, and at a few places elsewhere. The MFD has also forecast the possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces.
