Health Minister warns medical colleges over allowance issue

Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Paudel has warned that private medical colleges failing to provide residential doctors with allowances equivalent to those of the government's eighth-level employees may lose their affiliation.

KATHMANDU, May 2: Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Paudel has warned that private medical colleges failing to provide residential doctors with allowances equivalent to those of the government's eighth-level employees may lose their affiliation.



Speaking at a press conference on Friday, organized by the Ministry in collaboration with the Nepal Medical Association to address doctors' demands, Minister Paudel issued the warning.

He confirmed that the Medical Education Commission's meeting on February 7 had decided to provide residential doctors with subsistence allowances equivalent to the eighth-level employees of the Health Ministry and emphasized that this decision must be enforced.
