KATHMANDU, Sep 13: Head of the Bangladesh interim government Muhammad Yunus has congratulated Prime Minister Sushila Karki on her appointment as the Prime Minister of Nepal following the Gen Z revolution of September 8 and 9.
Yunus, who also came to power through a similar shift in Bangladesh, said in a letter to PM Karki that her assumption of office at such a critical and challenging time reflects the trust and confidence reposed in her by the people of Nepal.

“On behalf of the Government and the People of Bangladesh, and on my own behalf, I extend my warmest congratulations to Your Excellency on your appointment as Prime Minister of Nepal,” said Yunus, who is officially titled Chief Adviser of the Government of Bangladesh.
The Nobel Peace Prize laureate was appointed head of Bangladesh’s interim (caretaker) government on August 8, 2024, following the resignation of Sheikh Hasina, who fled the country amid nationwide protests.
Yunus also expressed his sympathies to the bereaved families of those who lost their lives in the protests and wished a swift and full recovery to all those injured.
