Govt to take multilateral loans of Rs 215 billion in next FY

The government is taking loans worth Rs 215 billion from multilateral lending institutions in the fiscal year 2025/26.

KATHMANDU, June 5: The government is taking loans worth Rs 215 billion from multilateral lending institutions in the fiscal year 2025/26.



According to the Ministry of Finance, out of the foreign assistance of Rs 232 billion from the lending agencies, it will be receiving grants of Rs 16.92 billion, while the remaining amount will be loans. The Asian Development Bank will be providing the government with the largest assistance amount of Rs 117 billion, out of which Rs 3.26 billion will be grants.

Likewise, the World Bank will be providing Nepal with Rs 75.80 billion, which will include loans of Rs 3.75 billion.  Out of the proposed Rs 15.06 billion from education development partners, Nepal will be getting around Rs 5 billion in grants.


Similarly, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has pledged to provide Nepal with Rs 4.81 billion, out of which Rs 4.35 billion will be grants. The International Monetary Fund is set to provide the country with concessional loans of Rs 11.20 billion.
