KATHMANDU, Sept 15: The government has decided to investigate all incidents that occurred during the Gen Z protests.



A cabinet meeting on Monday decided to form a high-level judicial inquiry commission to conduct the investigation. Following the meeting, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal said that the structure of the commission is yet to be finalised.

The government has also announced that it will provide Rs 1.5 million in relief to the families of those who lost their lives during the protests. Minister Aryal explained that each bereaved family will receive NPR 1 million as compensation and an additional Rs 500,000 to cover other expenses. The funds will be disbursed through the respective District Administration Offices.


In remembrance of all those killed during the protests, the government has declared September 17 as a day of mourning. Public offices nationwide will remain closed and the national flag will be flown at half-mast, Minister Aryal added.
