Govt revenue from large taxpayers increases 22 percent in first month of current FY

According to the Large Taxpayer Office (LTO), it collected the aforementioned amount during mid-July and mid-August this year. In the same period last year, the revenue worth Rs 16.54 billion was generated under the heading.

KATHMANDU, Aug 22: The government collected revenue of Rs 20.16 billion from large taxpayers in the first month of the current fiscal year (FY), which was 22 percent more compared to the collection in the corresponding month of last FY.



According to the Large Taxpayer Office (LTO), it collected the aforementioned amount during mid-July and mid-August this year. In the same period last year, the revenue worth Rs 16.54 billion was generated under the heading.

Of the total amount, the revenue collection under value added tax increased 24 percent to Rs 4.86 billion. Likewise, the income tax collection also surged 45 percent to Rs 9 billion. On the other hand, the tax on interest earnings declined to Rs 4.86 billion from Rs 5.26 billion.


Overall, the government generated total revenue of Rs 84.78 billion in the review month, down from Rs 94.74 billion. The tax revenue collection stood at Rs 80.98 billion.  The non-tax revenue declined 78 percent to Rs 17.33 billion.
