Govt forms committee to investigate fatal Taplejung fire accident

A woman, who was seriously injured in the fire, is currently receiving treatment in Kathmandu. Under the direction of Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Deepak Khadka, the Ministry has formed a four-member committee to investigate the incident.

KATHMANDU, April 25: The government has formed a committee to investigate the incident in Taplejung, where a vehicle caught fire after getting entangled in an electric wire, resulting in the deaths of four people.



The incident occurred in Phulping Municipality-10, Taplejung, while the victims were on their way to visit the Pathibhara Temple. Tragically, the fire caused by the entangled wire led to the death of four people, including three from the same family.

A woman, who was seriously injured in the fire, is currently receiving treatment in Kathmandu. Under the direction of Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Deepak Khadka, the Ministry has formed a four-member committee to investigate the incident.


The committee, formed under the leadership of Superintendent Engineer Nutan Prakash Sharma from the Nepal Electricity Authority, will include two representatives from the Ministry and one representative from Pulchowk Engineering Campus as members, according to the secretariat of Minister Khadka.


The committee has been instructed to study the causes of the accident and prepare a report. Additionally, they have been directed to propose measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. The committee began its work on Friday.


The incident occurred on Monday morning when a Jeep (NA 1Ja 3011), on its way to visit the Pathibhara Temple, caught fire after coming into contact with an electric wire. The fire resulted in the death of four people, including the driver, at the scene.
