KATHMANDU, May 30: The government has announced a public holiday for the upcoming Sunday on the occasion of Bhoto Jatra.
According to Ram Chandra Tiwari, spokesperson and joint secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the holiday is given due to the Machhindranath Bhoto Jatra festival.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the holiday is in honor of the chariot-pulling festival of the deity Rato Machhindranath, during which the traditional jewel-studded Nepali vest, known as the 'Bhoto,' is displayed.
Every year, a holiday is observed in Kathmandu on the day of the Bhoto Jatra. This holiday will be applicable only in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur.
