Govt allocates Rs 9.80 billion in interest subsidy for businesses hit by Gen Z protest

The government, in a bid to financially support the private businesses that suffered from the recent vandalism during the Gen Z protests, has released Rs 9.80 billion for interest subsidy on concessional loans.

KATHMANDU, Sept 20: The government, in a bid to financially support the private businesses that suffered from the recent vandalism during the Gen Z protests, has released Rs 9.80 billion for interest subsidy on concessional loans.



According to the Ministry of Finance (MoF), it disbursed the aforementioned amount on Saturday for the current fiscal year. The MoF has taken the decision abiding by the Integrated Procedure for Interest Subsidy on Concessional Loans, 2025.

Joint-secretary Tanka Prasad Pandey, spokesperson for the MoF, said a ministerial level decision has been taken to provide reimbursement to Nepal Rastra Bank for the interest subsidy on loans issued in the past seven quarters. 


A statement issued by the MoF says that the government has revised the timeline to implement the program through amendment to the annual program fixed for the current fiscal year regarding the interest subsidy.
