KATHMANDU, May 21: Newly appointed Governor Bishwo Nath Poudel has officially assumed office at Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). Shortly after taking charge, he signed a decision to print new Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes.
Governor Poudel started his tenure by signing the first decision regarding the design of new notes for printing. After taking office, Governor Paudel stated that monetary policy and fiscal policy are separate issues.
In his first address, Governor Poudel emphasized that monetary policy and fiscal policy are distinct, with monetary policy being an independent entity, not subordinate to the government's fiscal policy. However, he assured that if monetary policy interferes with the execution of fiscal policy, necessary adjustments would be made.

Similarly, Paudel paid a visit to Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel at the Ministry of Finance this morning. During the meeting, Finance Minister Paudel extended heartfelt congratulations and wished the new governor a successful tenure.
The Finance Minister emphasized the importance of coordination between fiscal and monetary policies and expressed confidence that Governor Paudel would take significant steps to address the challenges in the economy and monetary sector.
On the occasion, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari, Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyay, Revenue Secretary Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, and others extended their congratulations to the newly appointed Governor Paudel.
