KATHMANDU, April 19: The quarantine office at Kakarbhitta, under the Plant Quarantine and Pesticide Management Center, exported agricultural products worth Rs 18.62 billion in the first nine months of the current fiscal year.
Information Officer for the office Chandreshwar Thakur said that the main export items included cardamom, tea, ply, wood veneer, ginger, and tamarind, among others.
The highest exports during this period were tea, valued at Rs 8.41 billion; cardamom, worth Rs 5.63 billion; and ply and veneer, totaling Rs 2.87 billion.

The office's data also shows that ginger worth Rs 272.1 million, tamarind worth Rs 87.21 million, tobacco worth Rs 8.17 million, herbal products worth Rs 45.8 million, and lentils worth Rs 40 million were exported in the time period.
Information Officer Thakur reported that agricultural goods worth Rs 2.77 billion were imported through the eastern border during the same period.
The main agricultural imports include millet, peas, lentils, rice, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, garlic, potatoes, corn, and animal feed.
According to the quarantine office's data, millet worth Rs 144.57 million, rice worth Rs 60.1 million, and fresh vegetables worth Rs 34.04 million were imported.
The office also reported imports of fresh fruits worth Rs 31.8 million, garlic worth Rs 63.8 million. million, and potatoes worth Rs 364.9 million.
