Gore, along with several others, had fled Sundhara Prison on September 9 amid the unrest sparked by the Gen Z protests.
Upreti faces trial in one of Nepal’s biggest gold smuggling scandals. The case resurfaced during the investigation into the murder of Sanam Shakya of Urlabari, Morang. Police later revealed that Shakya, who had been used as a carrier, was killed after 33.5 kilograms of gold smuggled from Dubai went missing on January 23, 2018.
