KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The government has formed a committee to investigate the Gen Z protest held on Monday.
A cabinet meeting held on Monday evening decided that the committee would look into all incidents that occurred during the demonstration. The panel has been given 15 days to complete the investigation and submit its report to the government.
Social Media Addiction

Meanwhile, the government has decided not to lift the restrictions on social media immediately. Last Thursday, following a ministerial decision, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology had ordered the closure of all unregistered social media platforms.
During the meeting, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Health Minister Pradeep Paudel, and other ministers suggested finding a diplomatic solution to register social media platforms and temporarily reopen them.
However, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli maintained that, as social media companies had openly challenged the government, the platforms could not be reopened immediately without proper regulation.
The prime minister also stated that Monday’s protests had seen infiltration, adding to the complexity of the situation.
