UDAYAPUR, May 26: Four young men have been arrested on charges of gang-raping a 14-year-old girl from Katari Municipality in Udayapur. The incident, which occurred four days ago, was made public only on Sunday.

The accused are 25-year-old hotel owner Rajkumar Tamang (Sujan) from Katari Municipality-4, Gabuwa, along with Pujan Shrestha, Naveen Shrestha and Jeevan Tamang– all three aged around 20 years–from the same area. Following a complaint filed about the incident that happened on Friday night, the Katari Police Station arrested them from different locations.

The police reported that the district court extended their judicial remand on Sunday and the investigation has now begun. The girl, who works as a laborer in the market, was raped and has been placed in the 'Safe House' in Katari after her rescue.

Authorities say her condition is stable. Since her condition is not severe, which would typically be expected in a gang rape case, the police said they will confirm after investigation whether the rape actually occurred or if it is just an allegation.

Bhupesh Tamang, the ward chairperson of Katari-4, said he has heard about the incident but does not have full details yet. "I was outside the ward and just returned," he said. "I have heard about the incident but still need to understand all the facts."
