KATHMANDU, July 12: Former Election Commissioner Ilaa Sharma has passed away following a cardiac arrest on Saturday evening.

According to former journalist and long-time friend Amrita Lamsal, Sharma breathed her last at Norvic Hospital. Her final rites are scheduled to be performed on Sunday.
Sharma had also served for many years at The Rising Nepal. She is survived by her two daughters.
