KATHMANDU, Sept 16: The Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE) has stated that advance ticket booking for the upcoming Dashain festival will only open after assessing the condition of the roads.

During a discussion held on Tuesday at the Department of Transport Management, the FNNTE said that many roads across the country are still not fully operational. As a result, public vehicles are facing delays in entering the Kathmandu Valley from various parts of the country.

"Due to the poor condition of roadways, vehicles are finding it difficult to travel to and from the Valley. If we open advance ticket bookings now, what will we do if the vehicles take longer to return?" said representatives of the FNNTE.

Director General of DoTM Rajib Pokhrel emphasized the need for coordination among all concerned stakeholders to ensure safe and comfortable travel for citizens during the festival. He also urged transport entrepreneurs to maintain fare transparency, prioritize online ticket bookings, ensure proper maintenance of vehicles, and strictly avoid carrying passengers beyond seating capacity.

SP Basant Rajaure assured that necessary arrangements will be made to ensure the safety of passengers during the Dashain travel period.
