A concrete motorable bridge in Khumjung and an under-construction bridge in Samjung (Lomanthang-2) sustained damage. Additionally, a steel bridge and three wooden bridges were washed away, according to DPO Mustang.
Two houses in Nyamdo village, around 400 meters from the stream, and a hotel operating in the middle of the stream were evacuated as a precaution, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tshering Kippa Lama. No human or livestock casualties have been reported so far.
While the water level has now started to recede, security has been reinforced in the area. A team of nine personnel led by an assistant sub-inspector from the Area Police Office, Chhoser, and an inspector from the Armed Police Force base at Nechung has been deployed.
The deployed team has alerted locals about potential risks. Despite the receding floodwaters, the DPO Mustang has urged residents to remain cautious due to lingering threats.
