TAPLEJUNG, June 28: Flights at Suketar Airport in Taplejung district have been suspended for the past two weeks, with no flights operating since June 13.
Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) had resumed operations at the airport in the second week of April after a four-month hiatus. However, adverse weather conditions have once again disrupted services.
Bad weather disrupts flights at Suketar Airport

According to Narayan Kumar Karki, Station In-charge of NAC in Taplejung, four scheduled flights have been cancelled since June 15 due to poor visibility and persistent fog caused by the onset of the monsoon season.
Passengers traveling between Kathmandu and Taplejung—on flights scheduled every Monday and Friday—have been facing significant inconvenience due to repeated cancellations. “Flights have been grounded primarily due to safety concerns arising from bad weather,” Karki said.
The number of air travelers has declined as a result of the irregular flight schedule, forcing many to undertake long and difficult journeys by road. Local residents have expressed growing frustration, demanding reliable alternatives to air travel and improved transport infrastructure, as flight disruptions have become a recurring problem during the rainy season.
