KATHMANDU, June 26: Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that one of the reasons he has shown flexibility toward the government is due to several important bills currently under consideration in Parliament.
Speaking at the meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Wednesday, former Prime Minister Dahal said he is deeply concerned about how some sensitive bills are being handled.
Stack of bills stalled in National Assembly

"You may have noticed that I have been expressing serious concern lately over the overall political scenario and some highly important and sensitive issues," Dahal said, "the bills that we labored to table in Parliament, which were then sent to this committee, discussed and passed—some of them were still removed from the House agenda even after being scheduled. This has deeply worried me."
Dahal claimed that his willingness to build consensus with the government is rooted in the desire to ensure timely passage of these sensitive and essential bills. “One of the reasons I’ve tried to reach an understanding with the government is to expedite the passage of these critical and sensitive bills into law,” he stated. He further added that many of these bills were brought to Parliament under his leadership.
“I tabled the Federal Civil Service Bill in Parliament myself. Likewise, the School Education Bill—about which the current government has already reached an agreement with teachers to present by the end of mid-July—was also forwarded under my leadership. The same applies to the Citizenship Bill and others. That’s why, even if it means being somewhat flexible with the government, I’ve prioritized strengthening the democratic republic through these important laws,” Dahal added.
