Five more names recommended for ministerial positions; Jagdish Kharel to lead Communications Ministry

Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s cabinet is set to expand as five more individuals have been recommended for ministerial positions, ten days after she assumed office. With these appointments, the Karki-led government will have a total of nine members.

KATHMANDU, Sept 22: Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s cabinet is set to expand as five more individuals have been recommended for ministerial positions, ten days after she assumed office. With these appointments, the Karki-led government will have a total of nine members.



Journalist Jagdish Kharel has been recommended for the post of Minister for Communication and Information Technology. Kharel most recently served as head of news at Image Television. Other recommended names include Mahabir Pun, Anil Sinha, Dr. Madan Pariyar and Dr. Sangita Mishra.

While Pun has been recommended to lead the Ministry of Education, a former Supreme Court (SC) Justice Sinha will lead the law ministry. Similarly, Dr Pariyar will lead the Ministry of Agriculture and Dr Mishra will lead the Ministry of Health.


Earlier, Prime Minister Karki had appointed Rameshwore Khanal as Finance Minister, Kulman Ghising as Energy Minister and Om Prakash Aryal as Home Minister.
