KATHMANDU, June 26: The deadline for complaints called by the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) of the Federal Parliament against the proposed justices of the Supreme Court (SC) and the members of the Judicial Council has come to an end.
From June 15 to 24, seven complaints were filed at the PHC. Of these complaints, five were filed against only three proposed justices. The remaining two complaints are about the lack of inclusiveness.

Two complaints have been filed against proposed justices Meghraj Pokharel and Shrikant Poudel, and one has been filed against Shanti Singh Thapa. A meeting of the PHC has been scheduled for Thursday to open the complaints and distribute the work plan to the committee members.
Earlier, the PHC issued a notice asking individuals to file complaints against proposed justices and members of the Judicial Council if they believe these individuals are not suitable for appointment to their respective positions. Individuals were told to file complaints at the committee’s secretariat or the district administration office.
The Judicial Council meeting on June 10 proposed Meghraj Pokharel from Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-3, Dolakha; Shrikant Poudel, Chief Judge of the High Court, Janakpur; and Shanti Singh Thapa, Chief Judge of the High Court, Dipayal, for the position of Justice of the Supreme Court.
Likewise, on June 12, senior advocate Mahesh Kumar Nepal from Bhojpur Municipality-8, Bhojpur, was proposed as a member of the Judicial Council. His name was recommended under the quota of council members appointed by the President, following the government's recommendation. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had recommended his name on June 12.
