KATHMANDU, May 20: Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel has finally called a meeting of the Governor Recommendation Committee (GRC). The meeting is scheduled to take place at 4 pm, following discussions with top leaders.
The recommendation committee includes former Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari and economist Poshraj Pandey.
A Cabinet meeting is scheduled to take place today at 5 PM at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar.
SAARC finance ministers meet in Manila

On Monday, the meeting, which was supposed to be held regularly, was postponed at the last minute due to the Prime Minister's health. As a result, the Cabinet meeting will now be held as per the usual schedule.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba had been in a prolonged struggle over the governor appointment, which had strained relations between them. As a result, the committee had not been able to hold a meeting until now since its formation.
The position of Governor at the Nepal Rastra Bank has been vacant since April 6. Deputy Governor Neelam Dhungana was assigned the role of acting Governor by Finance Minister Paudel. For the Governor position, Chairman Deuba has proposed the name of Prof. Bishwo Paudel.
It is likely that the Governor will be appointed today.
