POKHARA, July 22: Police have arrested a man accused of killing his newborn child and abandoning the body near a highway in Pokhara.
After committing the crime on September 29, the man had been hiding. He was caught on Sunday when he brought his pregnant wife to the hospital for delivery.
According to the District Police Office (DPO), Kaski, the body of a newborn was discovered on the side of the Prithvi Highway in Pokhara-14, wrapped in a red and pink blanket and placed inside a zebra-print bag.

The suspect was identified as Govinda Lamichhane, 37, of Nuwakot, currently living in Pokhara. Though police had identified him earlier, he had been on the run for nearly ten months.
On Sunday, he brought another wife, who had recently given birth, to the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested him from the hospital premises.
He has been remanded for seven days by the Kaski District Court for further investigation on charges of homicide. Police say they are also investigating whether others were involved and the motive behind the murder.
