Fapla Cricket Stadium: Dream taking shape in Sudurpaschim

KATHMANDU, July 12: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has expressed enthusiasm over the completion of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process and the acquisition of all legal approvals for the Fapla International Cricket Stadium and Sports Village located in the City of Cricket, Dhangadhi.



She stated that the project will turn the long-held dream of the people of Sudurpaschim—to watch international-level cricket from their own backyard—into a reality. According to Minister Rana, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and other technical preparations for the stadium have already been completed.

“We are confident that the dream stadium of the people of Sudurpaschim—the aspiration to watch international cricket from their own homes—will soon be realized,” she wrote on X on Friday. She added that the stadium and sports village are expected to create local employment opportunities, promote tourism, and boost regional economic activity.


“This historic project will not only uplift cricket but also mark the beginning of a new era in sports, sports tourism, and the overall economic development of the region,” she further noted.


Minister Deuba believes the project will add a new dimension to Nepal’s sporting landscape and offer Sudurpaschim an opportunity to gain international recognition.
