EC cancels by-elections in Rupandehi

The EC notice came following the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the announcement of new election dates for March 5 next year

KATHMANDU, Sep 15: The Election Commission (EC) has cancelled the scheduled by-elections in Rupandehi constituency 3.



With the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the announcement of new election dates for March 5 next year, the EC in a notice on Monday called off the byelection date. The EC had been preparing to hold the elections on 3 November, with political parties making final arrangements.

Some parties had already announced their candidates, while the commission had appointed election commissioners to oversee the process. However, all these processes are now vacated. The Rupandehi-3 seat fell vacant after the demise of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Deepak Bohora.
