KATHMANDU, Aug 18: Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai has announced that he will be forming a new political party. He made the declaration on Monday at a press conference, stating that he and his family place the interests of Nepal and Nepalis above all else.
Prasai, who described himself as a businessman with political awareness, said politics has worsened the country’s situation and that he and his supporters are committed to establishing a new party. The party’s name will be revealed soon, he added.

On the occasion, Prasai alleged that attempts had been made to buy him off and even physically eliminate him, which he claimed was the reason he went into hiding. He further noted that he had been accused of involvement in the pro-monarchy rally held in Tinkune on March 28.
Prasai was arrested in April and released from Dillibazar prison two weeks ago. Cautioning his critics, he remarked that “no one can escape fate,” and when his time comes, it will also signify the people’s time.
