KATHMANDU, March 30 : The Democratic Thought Society, Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC), and Human Rights and Peace Society (HRPS) have condemned the vandalism and violence during Friday’s demonstrations by supporters of former king Gyanendra Shah in Kathmandu.
The Democratic Thought Society, issuing a press statement today, stated, “Such violent demonstrations are against democratic standards and thus condemnable, and punishable by law.”
The Nepal Chamber of Commerce warned that such activities could negatively impact the nation's economy.

The Human Rights and Peace Society asserted, “The restoration of monarchy is impossible in the country as civic supremacy and freedom are the lifeline of democracy.” The Society further stated that calls to restore monarchy oppose human civilization and freedom.
The protests turned violent in Tinkune on March 28, resulting in property damage, arson, and the loss of lives. Video journalist Suresh Rajak died in an arson attack at a private house during the protest. Demonstrators also vandalized the Annapurna Media Group building, attempted forced entry into the Kantipur Television building, and damaged a vehicle owned by Himalayan Television.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Sabin Maharjan of Kirtipur was killed, and 35 others were injured during clashes with police in the federal capital.
The organizations have called for accountability and compensation for the damages, urging authorities to bring those responsible to justice.
