Minister assures to modernizing NA

KATHMANDU, Aug 29: Newly appointed Defense Minister Bal Krishna Khand on Sunday assured to make maximum efforts in modernizing and in equipping the national army.



Minister Khand lauded the role of the NA in maintaining national integrity and sovereignty of the country while speaking at a function organized at NA's headquarters on Sunday for briefing the minister about NA's activities.

 “NA should play important role in safeguarding the security, sovereignty and integrity of the nation at any cost,” Khand said while lauding the institution's role in responding to disasters, including last year's earthquake. He stressed on the need of building even warmer relations between the national army and citizens, NA's Directorate of Public Affairs informed.


Minister Khand, who was elected to the Constituent Assembly from constituency 3 of Rupandehi district in 2070 BS from the Nepali Congress party, was appointed to the post last week.


On the occasion, NA officials briefed the minister about NA's ongoing operations, plans, and contributions to various areas. The briefing was attended by CoAS Rajendra Chhetri, Defense Secretary Mahesh Prasad Dahal, among others.
