KATHMANDU, June 2: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) increased by 1.60 points to close at 2,694.66 points on Monday.
The secondary market opened at 2,692.18 points and surged to the day’s high at 2,726.06 points in the first three minutes of trading. The index, however, suffered gradual decline in the remaining period and reached to as low as 2,687.39 points when the trading time was left for the last 17 minutes. The market recovered around eight points in the remaining time before it closed for the day.

Seven out of the 13 groups were gainers, with hotels and tourism adding the highest of 162.40 points. Of the losers, the manufacturing and processing index declined by the largest of 28.23 points.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, lost 0.21 points. The market that opened for trading after four-day closure witnessed its turnover rise to Rs 9.22 billion from Rs 8.58 billion.
Among the individual companies, 115 were gainers while 133 were the losers. Ngadi Group Power enjoyed the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 874.73 million.
Two companies including Om Meghashree Pharmaceuticals Limited and Pure Energy Limited were recorded as the topmost gainers. Bhugol Energy Development Company Limited lost the largest of 6.45 percent of its market value.
