KATHMANDU, July 20: Daily turnover at Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday recorded an 11-month high of Rs 21.46 billion as the market index nominally increased by 0.32 points.
Last time, the single day turnover amount was recorded at Rs 28.83 billion on August 18, 2024. The market suffered a downhill trend since that date.

The secondary market opened at 2,870.63 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,862.17 points in the first 14 minutes. However, the market escalated in the successive period and reached the day’s high at 2,922.38 points in the midway of the total trading hours. In the second half, the market lost around 52 points before it closed for the day.
Only five out of the 13 trading groups were the gainers, with life insurance and non-life insurance adding the largest of 192.20 points and 179.55 points in their market values. Share prices of heavy weight banks and financial institutions (BFIs) declined as market values of eight groups went down.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, decreased 2.46 points after the investors rushed to book their profits mainly out of the share prices of the banks and financial institutions that surged by impressive values last week.
Among the individual companies, 106 were gainers while 144 were recorded as the losers. Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 985.55 million.
Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Sanvi Energy Limited were in top lists of gainers. Samriddhi Finance Company Limited, with the loss of 8.88 percent of its market price, was registered as the topmost loser.
