Cyclist killed in road accident in Jhapa

The accident took place along the East-West Highway when a passenger bus (Pra 1-01-001 Kha 4363), en route from Urlabari to Damak, struck a cyclist en route to Tarabari from Damak, police said.

JHAPA, July 26: A cyclist died in a road accident that occurred this morning in the tea estate area of Damak-4, Jhapa.



The accident took place along the East-West Highway when a passenger bus (Pra 1-01-001 Kha 4363), en route from Urlabari to Damak, struck a cyclist en route to Tarabari from Damak, police said.

The deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Som Bahadur BK of Gharghare, Damak Municipality-4. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, BK, who was critically injured in the incident, died while undergoing treatment at Damak Hospital.


The bus involved in the accident has been impounded, and its driver, 47-year-old Rajendra Gautam of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City–7, Makwanpur, is currently in police custody for investigation, the police added.
