KATHMANDU, May 3: Senior Vice President of the CPN (Unified Socialist) Rajendra Pandey alleged that pro-monarchy demonstrators hurled 15 petrol bombs near the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) during their protest on March 28.
Speaking at the general convention of the Indigenous Nationalities Federation, which is affiliated with his party, Pandey said the bombs targeted a petrol station located next to the TIA. “That petrol station stores millions of liters of fuel and is specifically reserved for the TIA,” he stated. “The monarchists attacked it with 15 petrol bombs.”

Pandey warned that a fire at that location could have caused massive devastation. “If the fire had spread, 60 percent of Kathmandu’s 6.5 million residents could have died,” he claimed. “Kathmandu would have been destroyed, Nepal would have failed, the airport would have collapsed, and international flights would have stopped for years.”
