KATHMANDU, July 5: The Ministry of Health and Population has reported a noticeable rise in COVID-19 and Dengue cases across Nepal in its latest situation report, covering data from January 1 to July 3, 2025.
According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD), Nepal has recorded a cumulative total of 249 COVID-19 cases, with 35 new cases reported in the last 7 days and 3 in the past 36 hours. COVID-19 cases have been detected in 31 districts, and one verified death has been confirmed so far this year.

The week-wise breakdown of COVID-19 cases reveals a steady rise, with a noticeable spike in recent weeks. Epidemiological Week 26 saw the highest number of cases (59), followed by Week 25 with 29 cases, indicating a potential outbreak trend.
Province-wise, Bagmati Province reported the highest number of new COVID-19 cases over the past 7 days (26), contributing to its cumulative total of 92 cases. Koshi, Madhesh, Gandaki, and Lumbini also reported new cases, while Karnali and Sudurpaschim had no new cases in the last week.
Meanwhile, Dengue infections continue to surge, with a cumulative total of 1,677 cases across the country. Sixty three cases were reported in the past week, and two new cases in the past 36 hours. Although no deaths have been reported from Dengue so far, the disease has affected 73 districts, raising concerns over widespread transmission.
Health authorities are closely monitoring the situation and urging the public to adhere to preventive measures such as maintaining hygiene, eliminating mosquito breeding sites, and seeking early medical attention in case of symptoms.
